Larry R Shuck Obituary
Larry Robert Shuck, 78, of Batavia, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center surrounded by his loving family, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Larry was born July 14, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, son of the late Donald and Esther (Kelch) Shuck. He grew up in New Richmond, Ohio, and was a 1965 New Richmond High School graduate. Due to being held back a year after a near-death experience from burns of high voltage electrocution at the age of 16, Larry always considered himself a member of the Class of 1964.
On May 1, 1967, Larry married his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Linda Elaine (Bolton). Their birthdays were just 1 day apart. The couple had decided to wed at The Baptist Church in New Richmond, Ohio before Larry’s deployment to Vietnam later that year. Larry and Linda shared a devoted romance that lasted over 57 years.
Larry proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 3 years. He obtained the rank of Corporal serving as a Field Radio Operator in the Vietnam conflict. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, FMF, known as the War Dogs.
During his honorable service in the Marine Corps, he received several awards including: Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Larry continued to serve his country as a Specialist Four in the 216th Engineer Combat Battalion of the Army National Guard.
After discharge, he spent over 40 years as an HVAC mechanic and contractor until he retired.
He loved many things, but his family was Larry’s greatest treasure and accomplishment. He enjoyed spending time with them and loved them with all his heart, always putting them first until his last breath. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Larry will always be held close to the hearts of his family and friends.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Linda, his two sons: Matthew Shuck (Julia) and Adam Shuck, his five grandchildren, and his sisters: Garnet Griffith and Barbara Dragin.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Don.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 10:00 AM until a funeral service begins at 12:00 PM at Charles H. McIntyre Funeral Home, 323 N. Union St., Felicity, Ohio 45120.
