Dennis Charles Skeene Obituary
Dennis Skeene, age 74, of Moscow, Ohio, passed away on March 7, 2026, at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati following complications from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was surrounded by family in his final days after fighting courageously for over a month following the crash.
Dennis was born on October 10, 1951, in Mariemont, Ohio, at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. He lived and spent most of his life in Moscow, Ohio, where he remained deeply connected to the community he served.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Dennis served as a Military Police officer before returning home to continue a career in law enforcement. He went on to serve his hometown as Chief of Police in Moscow. His dedication to standing up for what he believed was right extended beyond policing; he successfully pursued a case that reached the Ohio Supreme Court, helping change state laws related to zoning of manufactured homes.
Dennis was a man of strong character and conviction. His stern demeanor could sometimes be mistaken for toughness, but those who truly knew him understood his generous heart. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back and was one of the rare people who would still stop to help a stranger or pick up a hitchhiker simply because it was the right thing to do.
Outside of work, Dennis loved the outdoors. He enjoyed scuba diving, spelunking, and taking road trips with family. He also had a deep interest in the law and justice system and never shied away from standing up for what he believed in.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Karen Skeene; his children, Amber McGrath, Kimberly Skeene, and Noah Skeene; and his beloved grandchildren Michael, Alexis, Logan, Cian, Raylan, Cole, Lyndon, Weston, and Katalina. He is also survived by his siblings Sandra, Gary, and Paula.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Clarence Skeene, and his siblings David, Ronnie, Steven, Leisa, Donald, and Angela.
In accordance with Dennis’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A celebration of life will take place later this summer, where family and friends will gather to share memories and honor a life defined by service, strength, and quiet generosity.
Dennis will be deeply missed by those who knew him, but his legacy of standing up for others and doing what was right will live on in the lives he touched
