Barbara Hill Ramsey Obituary
Barbara Worth Hill Ramsey
November 29th, 1925 - April 7th, 2025.
Barbara was born in the Native American village of Fern Creek, Kentucky to Thomas and Grace Gregory. Her parents named her from the 1925 Academy Award motion picture “Barbara Worth”. Barbara lived a full and beautiful life for 99+ years, the 6th of 7 children, and the last of her siblings to survive.
Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband of 20+years, Harold Cephus (H. C.) Hill, Jr., former Mayor of Felicity, Ohio; her second husband Avus C. Ramsey of 25+ years, Marathon, Florida Keys; four brothers, who served in WWII simultaneously Cecil, Franklin, Marion and Keith Gregory, and two beautiful sisters, Winifred (CheeChee) Scott and Ruth Rice. Barbara and H. C. had four children, Gregory, LeLetia (deceased), Regina and Carma Lita. Barbara’s grandchildren actively stayed in her life and loved her dearly, Shawnda Lynn Hill Mahaffey (Marty) Felicity, Ohio; Dawn Renae Hill Sacoff (David) Jacksonville, Florida; and Sergeant Thomas C. Hill (Brenda) Marathon, Florida Keys; along with great-grandchildren, Maggie Hoffpauir, Marty Mahaffey Jr., Devin and Colin Huffman, and Tyler Thomas Hill. Special mention to Barbara’s nephew Ronnie C. Scott, South Carolina who called her recently to talk, laugh and relive fun stories and many fond memories. It meant so much to her.
In 2011, Barbara moved from the Florida Keys “Island Life” to “Way Out West” Wickenburg, Arizona, to live near Carma and Larry Hibler, her caring and responsible daughter and son-in-law. Her only grandson Thomas Hill helped financially to support that decision so she could enjoy life in Arizona, and live independently, allowing her the freedom and dignity she desired. Barbara was a beautiful and classy woman, always very stylish in her clothes. She will be greatly missed by all who truly loved her and actively stayed in her life.
Carma and Larry would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and chaplain from Infinity Hospice, along with special friends Gloria Brewer and Scotty Taylor for their personal assistance, care, and guidance these last few months.
A Celebration of Life will be at the Charles H. McIntyre Funeral Home, 323 Union Street, Felicity, Ohio, 45120, on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will also be on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, also at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Felicity Cemetery, Felicity, Ohio.. May she be “gathered up yonder” into the open arms of her Creator, her parents, her brothers and sisters, H.C, LeLetia, and her kind and loving Avus. She will be as beautiful in heaven as she was on Earth, and greatly missed forever.
